"زوجة أبي" قصة تربوية تتضمن دروساً وعبراً أخلاقية جمَة، صيغت في إطار روائي بسيط وسهل يتلائم مع عقلية الأطفال تحدث فيها الكاتب يوسف بن جوهر النجدي عن فتاة وشاب في مرحلة الطفولة وقد توفيت والدتهما التي أحباها كثيراً، وقرار الأب بالزواج من امرأة ثانية، لم يتقبل الطفلان أن تحلَ امرأة مكان الأم، فأصبحا يدبران لها المكائد لكي ترحل عن المنزل، ولكن أخلاق الام الجديدة وسلوكها تجاه الأب والأولاد، غيَر من نظرة الجميع إليها، وجعل الطفلان يحبانها ويعترفان بها وبحاجة الأسرة إليها فأصبحا يرددان "أنا أحب هذه المرأة، أحب زوجة أبي، أحب أمي التي بعثها لي رب العاملين بعد أخذ أمي التي ولدتني، وأحسست برغبة جامحة لأحتضنها..." وهكذا بالرغم من الفراغ الذي تركته الأم برحيلها عن هذه الدنيا استطاعت زوجة الأب أن تخرج من داخل أبناء زوجها شيئاً قبيحاً كريهاً كان في داخلهما، وتغير من نظرتهما إلى ما يحمله المجتمع من أفكار سائدة عن زوجة الأب، التي يمكن أن لا تقل بحنانها وعطفها وأخلاقها عن الأم التي تلدَ..
هذا، وقد اختتمت القصة بأسئلة ذهنية بالإجابة عليها يمكن معرفة مدى استيعاب الطفل لمضمون القصة والدروس التي يمكن أن يتعلمها منها...
