أما الهدف الأساسي لهذه الدراسة فهو وفقاً للمؤلفة: جمع أحكام مريض الرهاب في حدود واضحة مع رسم صورة واضحة المعالم لهذا المرض، ثم بيان حقيقة المرض وتأثيره على أفعال المريض وتصرفاته، وكذلك بيان مدى تأثير المرض على تفكير صاحبه وبصيرته، ووضع حدود وضوابط لما يعذر فيه المريض وما لا يعذر. وأخيراً بيان حكم الشارع وآراء العلماء والفقهاء في أفعال مريض الرهاب ومدى أثر هذا المرض على عبادة المريض.
ما يعني شمول الشريعة الإسلامية وصلاحيتها لكافة الأحوال والأزمان.
هذا، وقد اتبعت المؤلفة منهجاً خاصاً في الدراسة من خلال عزو الآيات التي تتحدث عن الرهاب إلى مواضعها من القرآن الكريم مع الإشارة إلى رقم الآية وإسم السورة، وتخريج الأحاديث النبوية من مظانها وردها إلى مصادرها الأصلية، مع ذكر الكتاب والباب إن وجدا، وتبين الحكم عليها من حيث القوة والضعف باستثناء البخاري ومسلم ما أمكن ...
