تضطر والدة رفيف ونور الصغيرين إلى الذهاب إلى القرية لتفقد جدتهما المريضة. وفي أثناء غيابها يحاول الاثنان استعادة الأجواء الحميمة والدافئة التي كانت الأم تخلقها لهما كلما حان موعد النوم. فتقرر رفيف قراءة قصة من كتاب الحكايات الكبير الذي تعودت والدتها القراءة منه كل ليلة. تتحدث هذه قصة الرقيقة عن مشاعر الدفء والراحة التي تبثها القصص والحكايات فينا وقدرتها على إعادة الاتزان والطمأنينة إلى قلوبنا كلما حدث ما يعكر صفو الأيام والتحليق بِنَا بعيدًا نحو عالم الخيال والحكايات. في هذه القصة سيتفاعل الأطفال مع رفيف ونور وقطتهما بيسو البيضاء وهم يفتقدون حضن أمهم الدافئ وصوتها وهي تروي لهم القصص، ثم وهم يغامرون بمفردهم ولأول مرة بين صفحات كتاب الحكايات المفعم بالنور والألوان ويحلقون متنقلين بين عوالمه الساحرة.
