يتألف الكتاب من ثمانية فصول تتحدث تباعاً عن القطوع المخروطية والمخروطيات، وعن الهندسة التآلفية (الأفينيّة)، والهندسة الإسقاطية، والهندسة التعاكسية، والهندسة اللاإقليدية، والهندسة الكروية. يعتمد الكتاب في عرضه للهندسات المختلفة فلسفة تسمى نظرة كلاين Klein إلى الهندسة. وتتلخص هذه الفلسفة-ببساطة-في أن الهندسة عبارة عن فضاء مزوّد بمجموعة من تحويلات transformation ذلك الفضاء.
وفي كل حالة من تلك الهندسات شرحت الأفكار الأساسية على نحو واضح ودقيق، كما نوقشت العلاقة القائمة بين تلك الهندسات. إضافة إلى ذلك تضمن الكتاب أكثر من مائتي تمرين محول.
والكتاب مناسب لطلاب كليات العلوم والتربية والهندسات الذين يدرسون مقرراً في الهندسة. كما أنه يعد مصدراً جيداً لمن يرغب في متابعة دراسة الهندسة على نحو ذاتي. خاصة وأن طريقة الكتاب في شرح الحقائق الهندسية تميزت في أن القارىء يستطيع متابعة دراسته دون مساعدة خارجية كبيرة.
