يشمل هذا الكتاب على مقدمة وأربعة أقسام وخاتمة: أما المقدمة فجاءت في بيان معنى المعجزة والفرق بينها وبين سائر فوارق العادات وما يناسب ذلك، وفي بيان أنه لم يعط أحد من الأنبياء والمرسلين معجزة، ولا فضيلة إلا وقد أعطى رسول صلى الله عليه وسلم مثلها وابلغ منها وأنه نبي الأنبياء وأولهم خلقا بعثاً وأنهم استمدوا معجزاتهم من نوره صلى الله عليه وسلم، وفي بيان كون معجزاته صلى الله عليه وسلم أكثر واظهر من معجزات سائر الأنبياء مع انقراض معجزاتهم واستمرار بعض معجزاته، وفي بيان عدة طرق يعلم منها أن أخبار معجزاته يفيد العلم بها العلم بصحة نبوته صلى الله عليه وسلم.
أما القسم الأول من الكتاب فجاء فيما ورد في: كتب السماوية من البشائر به صلى الله عليه وسلم، على ألسنة الأحبار من البشائر به صلى الله عليه وسلم، على ألسنة الكهان من البشائر به (صلى)، على ألسنة الجان من البشائر به (صلى)، من بعض ما سمع الأصنام وغيرها من البشائر به (صلى) في بعض بشائر وردت متفرقة من أنواع شتى بنبوته (صلى)، في بعض ما وجد مكتوباً بقلم القدرة من التنويه برسالته (صلى).
أما القسم الثالث في الكتاب فجاء في خلق نوره (صلى) وانتقاله من أصلاب أجداده الطاهرين إلى أرحام جداته الطاهرات إلى أن وصل أباه وأمه صلى الله عليه وسلم وفيما وقع الخوارق والآيات الدالة على نبوته قبل وجوده وحده حمله وولادته ورضاعته، وبعثه...، جاء القسم الثالث ليتحدث عن بعض ما وقع له من المعجزات الباهرة الدالة على نبوته في حين بعثته إلى حين وفات، وهذا القسم هو الأحق بإطلاق لفظ المعجزات عليه من باقي أقسام الكتاب، وإن كانت كلها دلائل ظاهرة وبراهين باهرة على نبوته، واختص القسم الرابع من الكتاب بإيراد ما وقع بعد وفاته من خوارق العادات الدالة على صحة نبوته وصدق رسالته صلى الله عليه وسلم.
هذا الكتاب في بيان عقيدة أهل السنة في معجزات النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وتفصيلها وذكر فيه المصنف رسالة العز بن عبد السلام ورسالة الإمام السبكي في موضوع معجزات النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم.
