وفي صباح اليوم التالي بينما نحن على الشاطئ، استأذنت أبي وتركتهم لأسير وحدي على الشاطئ، وساقتني قدماي بعيدًا عن أسرتي، حتى ظننت أني قد تهت عنهم، وعلى مسافة غير بعيدة رأيت ذلك الشاب، كان قد انتهى من بيع الفريسكا لإحدى الأسر، وما أن بعد عنهم حتى تعثرت قدماه في حفرة قد صنعها الأطفال، وشعرت بقلبي يسقط معه عندما سقط في الحفرة وسقط معه صندوق الفريسكا، وتبعثرت كمية منه على الرمال. جريت نحوه ومددت له يدي لمساعدته في النهوض، ففوجئ عندما رآني وتعلق بيدي وجثا على ركبتيه، وأخذنا نلتقط قطع الفريسكا التي سقطت وننفض عنها الرمال، ونعيد ما يصلح منها إلى الصندوق، ونظراتنا مثل الألغاز، وكأن كل منا يحمل للآخر مئات الأسئلة التي تسألها النظرات وتنتظر الإجابات...
