لم يكن الزواج، في الحضارات القديمة، حافظاً للحب، ولم يكن الحب حامياً للزواج ولا ضامناً لإستمراريته، طالما أنَّ فيه جهةً تخضع لجهة، الزواج لا يزال إلى اليوم يحمل مفهوم التبعيّة من أجل مقابل؛ سواء كان ذلك عبر توفير الحماية، أم الحصول على الشريك العاطفي والكفيل الإقتصادي، أو الحصول على الأبناء.
وإزاء ذلك، حافظت التعدّدية على إستمراريتها عبر التاريخ لمصلحة الرجل منذ بدء التشريع للزواج الأحادي للمرأة، واشتمل ذلك على الزواج الشرعي القائم على الدين، سواء بالتشريع للتعدّدية عبر عقد الزواج، أم بالسكوت عن خيانة الرجل والتواطؤ معه، ما يعني في المجمل إستمرار خضوع المرأة لسلطة الرجل الذي احتفظ ولا يزال بميزات أضحت حقاً مشروعاً، أو إعترافاً بقارب الحتمية البيولوجية الممنوحة من السماء بدوره في قيادة الأسرة، وإمتلاك مفاتيح السلطة فيها، والتحكّم في مقدّراتها.
ولا يمكن، في ضوء ذلك، إغفال حقيقة العلاقة الوطيدة التي ربطت الزواج بالدين من جهة، فرسخت، من ثَمَّ، مفهوم العفة والتعفّف والحلال وأن الطيبين للطيبات، مقابل ترسيخ مفاهيم الزنا والفتنة والحرم وأنّ الخبيثين للخبيثات، ومن جهة أخرى، جرت شيطنة المرأة، بوصفها المحرّك للفتنة، والمسبّب للخطيئة الأولى، ورفيقة الشيطان، وحاملة الإثم، وجالبة الدَّنس.
وحتى تتخلّص النساء من سلطة الإجتماع والدين، اللذين قاما بهندسة الهيمنة عليها، يقترح هذا الكتاب جملةً من الحلول، من بينها الإستعاضة بالزواج المدني عن الزواج الديني؛ فالزواج المدني يعمل على حماية حقوق المرأة التي لا يضمنها لتشريعات الأديان التي انبثقت مدوّناتها الفقهية وانتعشت في تربة الهيمنة الذكورية، وهذا يستدعي مواجهة حقيقية وجريئة تعتمد إعادة تأويل النصوص الدينية، وتأويل التاريخ، وإنصاف النساء، لا لأنهنّ يشكّلن نصفّ المجتمع فحسب؛ بل لأنهنّ مستقبلُ العالم.
