يقع هذا الكتاب في منطقة تقاطع حقول معرفية متعددة، منها تاريخ الحضارة وتاريخ الأديان والميثولوجيا وعلم الجندر والإجتماع وغيرها، لأن الموضوع الذي يبحث فيه هو موضوع أساسي في كل هذه الحقول، فهو يعمل في مناطق الأصول والعلل، ولأنه يلقي الضوء واسعاً على حدثٍ ما زلنا نعيش نتائجه وهو الإنقلاب الذكوري، والذي قامت برصده الباحثة ميادة كيالي عبر إلقاء الضوء على المكانة الإجتماعية والدينية للمرأة في حضارات وادي الرافدين. لقد استطاعت أن تتبع هذا الإنقلاب من أبعد جذوره في العصر الحجري حيث المكانة المميزة للمرأة وعبادة الأنوثة والأمومة من خلال (الإلهة الأم) ثم أوضحت كيفية حصول الإنقلاب الذكوري في العصر الحجري النحاس وكيف تمت الإطاحة بالإلهة الأم ومكانتها ورموزها، ثم كيف تسرّب هذا إلى الحضارات الرافدينية اللاحقة (السومرية والبابلية والآشورية) وكيف صارت نتائج هذا الإنقلاب مهاداً للعصور والشعوب والحضارات القادمة.
إن ما يميز البحث في هذا العمل تجنب الباحثة المشاعر الخاصة لامرأة كشفت اللعبة الذكورية المتعسّفة وأدواتها وطريقة عملها وانتشارها من دون أن تقع في مشاعر ردّ الفعل الأنثوية المتوقعة ودون أن تطلق مشاعرها وعواطفها المضادة إزاء ما حصل وما يزال يحصل لأبناء جنسها من حيفٍ، بل راحت تحلّل بعلمية وموضوعية ذلك النسيج المقدّ من الأساطير، والطقوس، والوضع الإجتماعي الذي تسبب في إضعاف المرأة، وكان سبباً مهماً لتدهور النسيج الإجتماعي وسقوط الحضارات، باعتبار أن المرأة هي شريك الرجل، أو نصفه، ومن هنا يأتي مفهوم المكانة والدور ويكتسب أهميته.
