هذا الكتاب عبارة عن فهرسة لوثائق أصلية موجودة لدى المؤلف الأستاذ إبراهيم بن عبد العزيز اليحي، وصلته عن طريق والده، والمراد بالوثائق هي تلك الأصلية التي ظهرت بعد وفاة والده "عبد العزيز بن ابراهيم اليحي" رحمه الله، ووالدة والده "طرفة بنت محمد بن ابراهيم المهنا" ، رحمها الله والتي حفظتها عن أسرتها المهنا أبا الخيل، وهم حكام بريدة وما حولها. وبعبارة أخرى هي "وثائق ملك الصريف ووثائق تخص إبراهيم بن مهنا ابا الخيل".
يقول المؤلف "تشجعت لضم هذه الوثائق ليطلع عليها كل من له عناية واهتمام بالمنطقة والأسر التي عاشت أو تملكت فيه ومنها أسرة المهنا حكام بريدة وما حولها بعد حكم آل أبو عليان وقبل أن تدخل المنطقة تحت حكم آل سعود ...".
وبهدف تقديمها إلى القارىء، اجتهد المؤلف في ترتيب هذه الوثائق وتفريغها وإخراجها وتصويرها وعرضها في هذا الكتاب: عدد الوثائق بحسب الأرقام (92) وثيقة، من أولها إلى الوثيقة رقم (34) تخص ملك الطريف وتوابعه، وعن الوثيقة رقم (35) إلى (92) تضم كل ما له علاقة بإبراهيم مهنا أبا الخيل، من دفتره الخاص بالمداينات وما تبع الدفتر من وثائق أخرى. ويختتم الكتاب بمسرد عن أسماء العوائل المذكورة في الوثائق مرتبة ترتيباً هجائياً.
