يضمّ هذا الكتاب بحثين علميّين محكّمين ينتميان إلى حقل الدراسات النقديّة في مسارَي النقد الأسلوبيّ ونقد النقد، والدراستان تسعيان إلى محاولة الكشف عن الممارسات النقديّة الأسلوبيّة على المستويين الإبداعيّ والنقديّ.
وتقدّم الدراستان المنهج الأسلوبيّ من زاويتين: تطبيقه على إبداع محمود درويش، ونقد النقد من خلال نقد عيّنات دالّة من أهمّ وأبرز تطبيقات المنهج الأسلوبيّ على الإبداع الشعريّ في النقد العربيّ الحديث؛ وبهذا يقدّم الكتاب صورةً عميقة ودالةً على تطبيقات الأسلوبيّة بوصفها وعياً مناهضاً للتحليل الإنطباعيّ والأحكام الذوقيّة التي سادت في نقد الشعر العربيّ الحديث، وهي صورة مبنيّة على أسس من العلميّة الواضحة والمنهجيّة الدقيقة بعيداً عن إطلاق الأحكام الوصفية الإنطباعيّة اتي لا ينهض عليها دليل من واقع بنية النصوص ومكوّناتها الشكليّة والمضمونيّة، وبمنأى عن إختزال النصّ الإبداعيّ الشعريّ في إستعراض مضامينه ومعانيه في ما يشبه شرحه، أو إعادة صياغته بصورةٍ نثريّة، أو وصف تأثيراته في وعي الباحث المتلقّي وذائقته، أو النظر في محيطاته الخارجيّة بمعزل عن بنياته ومكوّناته الفنيّة والأسلوبيّة.
