رؤوف أوفقير، الابن الأكبر للجنرال محمد أوفقير الذي قتل إثر محاولة انقلاب ضد الملك الحسن الثاني. ألقي به مع أمه وأخواته الأربع وأخوه الأصغر في السجن عام 1972، و استمر هذا السجن حتى العام 1991، بعد عملية فرار يائسة.

كان عمر رؤوف أوفقير 15 عاماً حين ألقي به في السجن، وكان يعرف جزءاً كبيراً من كواليس ومؤامرات السلطة، وهذا جانب مهم يميز هذا الكتاب إذ يتحدث فيه أوفقير عن مرحلة عاشها من هذه الصراعات، وخاصة قضية بن بركة والانقلابات على الحسن الثاني.
