لا يمكن أن يتحقّق هذا الحلم إِلاّ من خلال العمليّة الشاقّة المتمثّلة ببناء عالم عربيّ يؤمن بوضوح بالتعدّدية والتسامح.
ويؤكّد مروان المعشّر، وزير الخارجيّة الأردنيّ الأسبق، أنّ جميع الأطراف - حكومات الولايات المتحدة وأوروبا وإسرائيل والحكومات العربيّة على حدّ سواء - كانت جميعها مضلّلة، بشكل عميق، في تفكيرها عن السياسة العربيّة والمجتمع العربيّ عندما اندلعت الإنتفاضات.
ويشرح أسباب الإضطرابات متتبعاً إيّاها إلى اليقظة العربيّة الأولى، ويحذّر من القوى الحاليّة الّتي تهدّد نجاح اليقظة العربية الثانيّة، ويؤكّد مروان المعشّر أنّ الأمل يتوقّف على الجيل الجديد ومدى إلتزامه بالتسامح والتعدّدية والتداول السلميّ للسلطة والنموّ الإقتصاديّ الشامل.
ويوجّه دعوة للغرب لإعادة التفكير في نهجه تجاه الإسلام السياسيّ والصراع العربيّ الإسرائيليّ، ويشدّد على أهمّيّة الجهود لتعزيز التعليم والتوسّع في التعاريف التقليديّة للمواطنة العربيّة من أجل عمليّة إنتقائيّة طويلة الأمد نحو الديمقراطيّة.
