ومن هنا، جاء إهتمام مركزنا بالمقاتل التاريخية، فقد عقد العزم على إخراجها من مخابئها ومن ثم إبرازها إلى النور، وذلك بعد تحقيقها وتوثيقها، ومقتل أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام الذي بين أيدينا حلقة في سلسلة واعدة، وقد وقع الإختيار عليه للأسباب التالية: أولاً: "إنه مقتل روائي متصل السنة"، ثانياً: "قدم مخطوطته"، ثالثاً: "شهرة مصنفها (ابن أبي الدنيا) لدى المحدثين والمؤرخين".
وقد نهض بتحقيقها حجة السيد مصطفى القزويني، وعمل على تصويرها وترقيمها وتحقيقها.
