لما كان تدريس الشريعة الإسلامية، فى مدرسة الحقوق الخديوية قد عهد إلى من عهد قريب، وكان من الكتب المقرر تدريسها بها كتاب (الأحكام الشرعية فى الأحوال الشخصية) لسعادة المرحوم "محمد قدرى باشا"، وهو ذلك الكتاب الذى وإن جمع من فقه إبى حنيفة ما يختص بذات الإنسان من الأحكام، فى مواد سهلة الفهم قريبة التناول على من ليس له سابقة عهد بمزاولة فهم عبارات الفقهاء، وحل رموز المتون ومعرفة اصطلاحات الشراح والمعلقين، بيد أن مؤلفه رحمه الله لم يبعد به الإيجاز عما لم يسلم منه كل مختصر بل جاءت بعض مواد كتابه غامضة العبارة، مهمة الإشارة، فرأيت أن اشرح مسائله، بل لم أقصر فى حكاية خلاف فقهاء المذهب وغيرهم من المذاهب الأخرى فى كثير من المسائل مبيناً فى كل مسألة حكمة الحكم، ودليل كل مجتهد فيها، فكان من عملى هذا شرح يألفه كل طالب ولا يأنف عن مراجعته من هو فى الحقيقة راغب، هذا ولم أنهج فى ذلك طريقة قدماء الشراح من ارتباطهم بعبارة الأصل، وتخلل كلامهم فيها أو تعقيبه لها، بل بينت مسائل كل باب على مقتضى ترتيبها الطبيعى، ذاكراً كل مسألة مستقلة بنفسها غير مرتبطة بلفظ من ألفاظ المادة الأصلية منعاً للخلط والتشويش، غير أنى قد ذيلت كل موضوع بنفس المادة التى تم شرحها إيذاناً بإرتباط الشرح بها، ولتكون بمثابة تلخيص لما أبسطه من القول، ومنذ تم لى جمع تلك الفرائد على مقتضى الإرادة شرعت فى نظمها بسلك التأليف تحقيقاً للإفادة والاستفادة.
