في ضوء الأهمية البالغة للبرنامج النووي الإيراني، وتداعياته المستقبلية المحتملة على الأمن الإقليمي والأمن الدولي، نظم مركز الإمارات للدراسات والبحوث الاستراتيجية في أبو ظبي بدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة ندوة بعنوان: البرنامج النووي الإيراني: الوقائع والتداعيات، وذلك في 26 شباط/فبراير 2006. وفي هذه الندوة ناقش الخبراء والمتخصصون وجهات نظرهم حول البرنامج النووي الإيراني، واحتمالات تطوره، والمدى الذي يمكن التهديدات المحتملة للأسلحة النووية أن تقوض فيه دعائم استقرار منطقة الخليج العربي خاصة، ومنطقة الشرق الأوسط عامة.
ويضم هذا الكتاب مجموعة الأوراق البحثية المتخصصة التي طرحت في الندوة، والتي تسلط الضوء ذات الصلة بهذا الموضوع، ومنها: التوجهات الحالية والمستقبلية المتعلقة بالبرنامج النووي الإيراني، والقدرات النووية الإيرانية الحالية، واحتمالات تطوير إيران أسلحة نووية، وأهم التغيرات والتطورات التي شهدها البرنامج النووي الإيراني، منذ الانتخابات الرئاسية عام 2005، والتأثيرات المحتملة للبرنامج النووي الإيراني، في أمن دول مجلس التعاون لدول الخليج العربية.
وتظل الضربة العسكرية الأمريكية أو الإسرائيلية احتمالاً قائماً، بكل ما تنطوي عليه من عواقب سياسية واستراتيجية إقليمية بالغة التأثير، ولذا، فإن الكتاب يقوّم السياسة الخارجية الإسرائيلية إزاء إيران، ويستكشف احتمالات توجيه ضربة عسكرية إليها، كما يسلط الضوء على دور الدبلوماسية الإقليمية، في تسوية قضية البرنامج النووي الإيراني.
