الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا يعد بحق فتحاً جديداً في ميدان علم النفس في مصر، ويسرني جداً أن أقدمه إلي قراء العربية، وذلك لسببين رئيسيين: الأول، وهو في رأيى السبب الجوهرى، قيمة الترجمة نفسها. وليست قيمتها هذه راجعة فقط إلي جمال الأسلوب وسلاسته، بل ترجع أيضاً إلي العناية الفائقة التي بذلها الأستاذ محمد بدران وزميله الأستاذ أحمد عبد الخالق في توخى الدقة في التعبير وحسن اختيار المصطلحات، حتى جاءت الترجمة العربية صورة حية ونسخة صادقة من الأصل الإنجليزى. وهذا السبب الأول جوهرى كما قلت لأن المترجم الأخرق من ألد أعداء المؤلف، بل من ألد أعداء الفكر والعلم عامة،لأن تشويه الأصل يعد بحق خيانة كبرى تنزل بأجل الكتب إلي الحضيض، وتسئ إلي المؤلف والقراء.
أما السبب الثاني فهو حسن اختيار المترجمين، فقد وفقا كل التوفيق في انتخاب الكتاب الذي نحن في أمس الحاجة إليه لإصلاح بعض شئوننا الاجتماعية، ولتحقيق أكبر قسط من السعادة في مقدور الفرد أن يتمتع به، سواء في المنزل او في المدرسة، أو في محل عمله، أو في حياته الزوجية، أو في مختلف ميادين النشاط الاجتماعى.
وعنوان الكتاب ينطبق تماماً علي ما يحويه من بحوث شائقة طريفة، تبعث علي التفكير العميق والتأمل المجدى. فهو بحق المرشد الأمين إلي اتقان فن الحياة السعيدة المطمئنة، وما أشد حاجتنا في هذه الأيام العصبية المضطربة إلي الاطمئنان والرضا!
وصاحب الكتاب "ألفرد أدلر" من أساطين علم النفس التحليلي الحديث، وقد انتشر مذهبه الموسوم بعلم النفس الفردى انتشاراً عظيماً في الأوساط العلمية التي تعنى عناية خاصة بالتربية والعلاج النفساني. وقد عرض المؤلف في كتابه هذا كتابه هذا لباب نظريته التي فصل القول فيها في كتبه السابقة، غير أنه أكد فيه الناحية العملية موضحاً آراءه بذكر الأمثلة الكثيرة وتحليلها وافياً شاملاً.
