يندرج هذا الكتاب في باكورة الأبحاث حول الصدارئية الجديدة عند المشتغلين في ا لفلسفة من الشباب اللبناني، وخاصة في الوسط الإسلامي الشيعي، و"زهرة بدر الدين" تجمع في سيرتها العلمية، علوم الحوزة، وعلوم الجامعة الأكاديمية، وقد اختارت فلسفة صدر الدين الشيرازي، باعتبارها الفلسفة الأكثر حيوية في البناء الفلسفى الإسلامي الحديث وقد استطاعت بجهدها وذكائها، أن تحقق الغاية من البحث، في عرض متماسك ومنهجية متقنة.
وما اختيارها لدراسة المعاد الروحاني عند صور المتألهين، وما هو إلا لما يمتاز به من مكانة مرموقة لدى الفلاسفة ولكونه مجدد الفلسفة الإسلامية، ولأنه تناول الكلام عن المصادر والحشر في كتبه بشكل مفصل جمع فيه بين روح الفلسفة والعرفان مما أضفى على كتبه جمالاً وإبداعاً.
وقد قسمت بحثها إلى أربعة فصول وخاتمة، في الفصل الأول تناولت الحديث عن تعريف المعاد لغة واصطلاحاً. أما الفصل الثاني فقد بينت فيه الآراء والنظريات المختلفة في تفسيره، وبيان أسباب تفاوت الناس ومراتبهم في درك المعاد, وأخيراً تعرضت لذكر بعض الشبهات الواردة عن المنكرين للمعاد والرد عليها. ثم الكلام في الفصل الثالث كان عن النفس وأحوالها، ومراتب وجود الإنسان، ثم الحديث عن حدوث النفس وكونها روحانية والبقاء، لأنها جوهر مجرد لا تزول بزوال البدن، وأخيراً بينت أن انقطاع النفس عند الموت لا يعني فنائها.
ولقد بحثت في الفصل الرابع عن السعادة والشقاوة وبيان ماهيتهما، وأن العقليتين منهما أشد وأوقى من الحسيتين وأدوم. ثم بينت الأسباب المانعة من حصول العلوم والمعقولات الموصلة إلى الكمال، وتحدثت أخيراً عن السعادة والشقاوة الأخرويتين، وأن حصولهما إنما يكون بما يملكه الإنسان من ملكات أخلاقية فضائل كانت أو رذائل.
