يعد هذا الكتاب أول محاولة عنيت بدراسة الرؤية الكونية التوحيدية وأثرها في صياغة علم العمران البشري، الذي يعد إحيائه مطلباً علمياً ودينياً وحضارياً، لاسيما أن الأمَّة الإسلامية ستظل عاجزة عن النهوض مالم تتمكن من تشخيص الداء وصناعة الدواء المناسب، وذلك بالرجوع إلى الوحي و"العلوم الآليَّة" التي تخدمه، كعلم العمران البشري التوحيدي.
يحاول هذا الكتاب صياغة مسألة الفكر العلمي الخلدوني في نسقها الأصلي بطرح أسئلة غير تقليدية، وإبراز الجوانب المسكوت عنها، ونقد الاتجاهات والقراءات التقليدية التجزيئية لهذا الفكر؛ إذ يركز البحث على إبراز العلاقة بين الفكر العلمي الخلدوني ومصادر الوحي وعلومه الآلية، وذلك على مستوى مفاهيمي واستدلالي. كما ينقد الكتاب الطرح الوضعي المادي للفكر الخلدوني ويبيّن بعض إخفاقاته في تفسير هذا الفكر وربط أجزائه المختلفة، وذلك بالرجوع إلى العلاقة التي تربط بين فكر ابن خلدون والرؤية الكونية التوحيدية.
والكتاب يفتح مسالك فكرية ومنهجية أصيلة وبديلة لقراءة التراث العلمي للعلماء المسلمين كابن خلدون وغيره، ويتعرض إلى بعض خفايا الصراع بين المعرفية الغربية والمعرفية الإسلامية في تحديد ماهية العلم وتطبيقاته العمرانية.
