يدور موضوع الكتاب حول الأنظمة السيميائية بين التسريد اللفظي والبصري في رواية عمارة يعقوبيان والفيلم المصاحب لها – دراسة في السرديات المقارنة -
تنطلق إشكالية موضوع البحث كما حددتها الكاتبة من ثلاثة محاور أولية هي: التسريد، والنظامين السيميائين اللفظي والبصرين والمنهج السردي المقارن. وفي هذا السياق اعتبرت الكاتبة أن خصوصية البحث في مصطلح "التسريد" لا تتعلق في هذه الدراسة بالكشف عن تفاعلهما لإنتاج الفعل السردي حسب عناصر وآليات بنيته، لذلك السؤال الذي يطرح هنا: ما هي الإجراءات التي يجري تشغيلها داخل البنيتين، من أجل تشكيل هذا الفعل الكوني الذي يتجسد في أحاديثنا اليومية كما يتجسد هذا البحث في أشكال الفنون المختلفة؟ وعلى هذا يتضمن إشكالية هذا البحث نموذجين للأنظمة السيميائية: أحدهما لفظي والثاني بصري، يطرحان كثيراً من التحايز، لكنهما يشتركان في تعبيرهما عن الفاعلية الإدراكية ذاتها، الأمر الذي يربطهما مباشرة بالتجربة الإنسانية. من هنا اختارت الكاتبة عينتين للتحليل من أجل اختبار هذه الخلفية النظرية والمرجعية، وهما الرواية والفيلم؛ إذ يسمحان لها بمناقشة خصائص النظامين، وينسجمان في ذات الوقت مع المنهج الذي اختارته للدراسة. وفي ختام البحث تقر الكاتبة "أن السردي في جوهره ليس نتاج الفعل التلفظي، وإنما يتشكل بوجود هيئة متخيلة تقوم بإعادة تشكيل العالم القصصي واستقطاب أحداث معينة وانتقائها لإنشاء محكي معين، إما باستخدام الوسيط اللفظي، أو باستخدام الصورة أو دمجهما معاً؛ وإذا كان استخلاصنا لهذه النقطة لا يعني على الإطلاق المؤازرة والمماثلة بين البعد اللفظي والبعد الصوري للرواية والفيلم بقدر ما يعني تحديد مظهر بنيوي يبدأ السرد بالتجسد من خلاله ..."
