إننا كثيراً ما نقرأ ونسمع كلاماً عن ضرورة النظرية الثورية، ولكن هذا الحديث كان يطرح نفسه في شكل صيغة شعائرية، دون أن يقترن بأية دراسة تحليلية لمقومات نظرية كهذه، أو للعناصر التي تتشكل منها هذه الضرورة. هذه الدراسة تشكل محاولة في معالجة هذا النقص، وهي معالجة أصبحت ملحة بسبب المأزق الحالي الذي يواجه العمل الثوري العربي. فهي لا تقدم، إذن نظرية ثورية بل نظرية حول ضرورة توفر نظرية من هذا النوع لكل عمل ثوري فعال يمكن له -كما يفترض به- الكشف عن كامل الطاقات والإمكانات التي تتوفر له في الواقع الذي يعمل على تغييره، وضبط الأحداث في وجهة المقاصد التي يبغي تحقيقها. إنها تحدد هذه الضرورة وتكشف عنها بتحليل جامع للعناصر التي يتشكل منها دورها وللنتائج التي تترتب عليها.
ولكن د.البيطار يؤكد أن كل عمل عربي ثوري لا يمكن أن يكون ثورياً دون أن يكون وحدوياً ينطلق من موقع وحدوي ويكون قادراً على قياس أعماله وممارساته بمقياس وحدوي. لهذا فإن النظرية الثورية التي يحتاجها هذا العمل يجب أن تكون وحدوية.
