ويعتبر علم وظائف الأعضاء البوابة للدخول في دراسة الأقسام المختلفة للمهن الطبية المساعدة والقائمين بأعمال العناية الطبية في مختلف المؤسسات الصحية حيث تتطلب العناية الصحية الناجحة جهود وتنسيق عدد من الممرضات والممرضين والأطباء وأطباء الأسنان والصيادلة كفريق عمل والذي يشمل كذلك على مساعدي التمريض والصيادلة ومساعدي الأسنان وفني المختبرات الطبية والأشعة والتخدير والعلاج المهني والعلاج الطبيعي ومسؤولو التغذية والطوارئ والعلاج النفسي وغيرهم.
ويستفيد من هذا الكتاب طلبة الدبلوم في تكنولوجيا الأغذية والمختبرات الصناعية. وقد حرصت عند إعداده على كتابة المصطلحات العلمية لكي يكون الطالب ملماً بها والتي تستعمل في المؤسسات الطبية المختلفة. كما حرصت أن تكون مادته شاملة ولغته بسيطة وميسرة وفي كل فصل وضعت الأشكال الخاصة بالخلايا والأنسجة والأعضاء التي تتم دراستها. إن فهم الوظائف المختلفة في الجسم في الحالة الطبيعية تعتبر جزءاً أساسياً لفهم الحالات المرضية وقد وضعت في نهاية كل فصل من الفصول بعض الحالات المرضية والاضطرابات التي تصيب الأعضاء ومسبباتها.
