تاريخ إبن غنام (رحمه الله) يعد أهم مصدر لتاريخ هذه البلاد "السعودية"، بعد دعوة الإمام المجدد محمد بن عبد الوهاب (رحمه الله)؛ حيث أرخ لإرهاصاتها، ثم قيامها، ثم توسعها السياسي، مع ما ضمن كتابه من رسائل وآثار للشيخ مهمة، حفظت للأجيال تراثه، وجمعت لكتاب إبن غنام بين الجانب السياسي والعقدي، مما جعله عمدة لدى علماء هذه البلاد، وغيرهم، ينقلون منه عند حديثهم عن الشيخ ومبدأ دعوته.
هذا وقد جاء الكتاب في جزئين. حمل الجزء الأول عنوان "روضة الأفكار والافهام لمرتاد حال الإمام وتعداد غزوات ذوي الإسلام" ، وحمل الجزء الثاني عنوان "كتاب الغزوات البيانية والفتوحات الربانية".
ولأهمية هذا الكتاب اعتنى بتحقيقه الأستاذ سليمان الخراستي وعمل على تفريغ أحاديثه، وتوثيق خصومه، واستكمال الطبعات السابقة، والتعليق عليه، وقدم ترجمة للشيخ حسين بن غنام.
