ابن ضويان (1275 - 1353 هـ = 1858 - 1935 م)
إبراهيم بن محمد بن سالم بن ضويان، من بني زيد سكان شقراء بنجد: فقيه، له علم بالأنساب واشتغال بالتاريخ.
من أهل (الرس) بنجد. كانوا يرجعون إليه في حل معضلاتهم وتولى القضاء بها. وكان ملازما للمسجد.
وألف كتبا، منها (منار السبيل - ط) مجلدان، في شرح (دليل الطالب) لمرعي بن يوسف الكرمي، في فقه ابن حنبل، ورسالة في (أنساب أهل نجد - خ) كانت عند رشدي ملحس بالرياض، ورسالة مختصرة (في التاريخ - خ) في الرياض، ذكر فيها بعض الغزوات والوفيات من سنة 750 هـ إلى استيلاء الملك عبد العزيز آل سعود على الرياض سنة 1319 ه، و (رفع النقاب عن تراجم الأصحاب أي الحنابلة - خ) اقتنيت تصويره.

كتاب تاريخ ابن ضويان تأليف ابن ضويان، هو من التواريخ النجدية البسيطة والتي يقل الاعتماد عليها في المصدر البحثي ربما لوفرة غيرها من المصادر الأخرى وتغطيتها عدة عقود تاريخية وتعمقها في الأحداث أكثر من هذا التاريخ، وهذا التاريخ هو كراس صغير الحجم في الأصل يتناول سنوات (850هـ إلى 1319هـ) يبدأ بالسنة التي تعوّد البدء بها صاحب كل تاريخ نجدي ويقف عند دخول الملك عبدالعزيز مدينة الرياض، وعناية المؤلف فيه كان بذكر الوفيات وفق كل عام أكثر من أي حدث تاريخي آخر.
