Book Description
أفرد المؤلف كتابه هذا للحب والمحبين وأخبار العشاق وأشعارهم. وقد قدم لكتابه بخطبة قصيرة ذكر فيها دوافعه لتأليف هذا الكتاب، والهدف من ذلك، والمنهج الذي سلكه. ثم عقد بعد ذلك ثلاثة عشر باباً، ختمها بخاتمة قصيرة تناول في الباب الأول ما ورد في فضل المتحابين في الله تعالى وصفاتهم ذكر فيها جملة من الأحاديث النبوية التي تشيد بفضل المتحابين في الله والمكانة التي خصّهم الله بها. كما ساق جملة من الأشعار التي يشيد أصحابها بالمحبة التي لا تشوبها شوائب المطامح ولا تدنسها رغبات المطامع.
وعقد الباب الثاني للاقتصاد في الحب والبغض ثم أفرد الباب الثالث لذكر من ضرب به المثل من العشاق، وخصص الباب الرابع لما جاء في حي عندرة وأنهم أرق العرب طباعاً وأشدهم صبوة، وذكر في الباب الخامس من استشهد فيه بالشعر قبل معرفته، ثم أفرد الباب السادس لذكر من علق بأول نظرة، ليتحدث في الباب السابع لما ورد في عشق الملوك والفرق بينهم وبين الأعراب، وخصص الباب الثامن لما ورد في ذكر هوى الصبا وترجيح الهوى الأول وليتبع ذلك بباب حول ما ورد في ذكر مبادئ الهوى وأوائل الجوى من كلام الحكماء.
لينتقل للحديث عن كلام البلغاء في مدح الهوى والغرام وما يترتب عن ذلك من علو الهمة ورياضة النفس ورقة الحاشية، ثم عقد المؤلف بعد هذا باباً لما ورد في ذم الهوى وتهويل أمره وعالج في الباب الذي تلاه ما ورد في ذكر العفاف، وما يترتب عليه، وذكر الأسباب الباغتة على التلبس به، ويعتبر هذا الباب وهو الثاني عشر، من أهم أبواب الكتاب. ففيه يقول المؤلف: "وهذا الباب يطول البسط فيه، فإنني عليه بنيت هذا الكتاب وإنما ذكرت ما يحلو ذكره". وأما الثالث عشر والأخير فقد خصّه المؤلف لذكر ما اتفق إيراده في هذا الكتاب من أخبار أهل الهوى وأشعارهم ومصارعهم، وتكاد تعتبر الأبواب السابقة مقدمة لهذا الباب والذي ساق فيه كثيراً من أخبار العشاق وأهل الهوى، وأشعارهم وقصصهم.
