الخيل معقودٌ بنواصيها الخير، وهي من محاسن مخلوقات المملكة الحيوانية، زينةٌ وجمالٌ مذ خلقها الله تعالى إلى يومنا هذا، وقد أكثر المسلمون من الكتابة عن الخيل عبر التاريخ، في أوصافها وأحوالها وفضائلها وأنسابها، نثراً وشعراً، وجمعاً وتأريخاً.
ويأتي كتابنا هذا اليوم ليُسهِمَ في جمع الأحاديث النبوية الواردة في الخيل، وتخريجها من كتب السنّة، وشرحها وإيراد كلام أهل العلم في معانيها.
وتناول الكتاب من خلال ذلك موضوعات متنوعة منها: أسماء الخيل وألوانها، وأنواعها وسلالاتها وصفاتها، وخيل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وخيول الصحابة، كما تناول مباحث فقهية تتعلق بأحكام الخيل كأكل لحومها، وزكاتها، وتضميرها، وجزّ شعرها، والسباق بها، والرِّهان عليها، وخِصائها، وتمكين الحُمُر من النزوّ عليها، وغير ذلك.
وقد بلغت الأحاديث الواردة في هذا الكتاب 248 حديثاً، وأشرف على هذه الأطروحة الجامعية العالم الجليل الدكتور مصطفى ديب البُغا.
