Book Description
كان هذا الكتاب معروفاً بالكلينيّ، ويسمّى أيضاً الكافي، قال الكليني "وقلت، إنّك تحبّ أن يكون عندك كتاب كاف، يجمع من جميع فنون علم الدّين، ما يكتفي به المتعلّم، ويرجع إليه المسترشد، ويأخذ منذ من يريد علم الدين، والعمل به بالآثار الصحيحة، عن الصادقين عليهم السّلام - ".
وقد يسر الله له تأليف هذا الكتاب الكبير في عشرين سنة "وقد سأله بعض الشيعة من البلدان النائية تأليف كتاب الكافي لكونه بحضرة من يفاوضه ويذاكره، ممّن يثق بعلمه" ويعتقد بعض العلماء أنّه "عرض على القائم - صلوات الله عليه - فاستحسنه" وقال: "كاف لشيعتنا".
روى الكلينيّ "عمّن لا يتناهى كثرة من علماء أهل البيت عليهم السلام ورجالهم ومحدّثيهم فكتابه خلاصة آثار الصادقين عليهم السّلام وعيبة سننهم القائمة.
وقد كان شيوخ أهل عصره يقرءونه عليه، ويروونه عنه، سماعاً وإجازة، كما قرءوه على تلميذه أبي الحسين أحمد بن أحمد الكوفي الكاتب ورواه جماعة من أفاضل رجالات الشيعة عن طائفة من كملة حملته، ومن رواته الأقدمين: النجاشي.
