يتناول الكافيجى (788-879هـ) في هذا الكتاب الذي حمل عنوان: الأنموذج في بحث الإستعارة؛ مبحثين من مباحث الإستعارة، وهما: مفهوم الإستعارة وعلاقتها بالكناية، ومفهوم الإستعارة التخيلية مناقشاً في ذلك آراء علماء البلاغة المتقدمين والمتأخرين في هذين الموضوعين المهمين، ولا يخفى على الدارس أن الإستعارة تعد من أخص خصائص التعبير الأدبي، وسمة من السمات التي يستدل بها على بلاغته، وهذا يفسر لنا سر وضع بعض نقادنا الأقدمين للإستعارة على رأس فنون البديع والنظر إليها على أنها تمثل عنصراً أساسياً من عناصر الصياغة الشعرية الموروثة عن العرب؛ التي اصطلح على تسميتها بعمود الشعر، الذي دارت حوله الخصومة بين القدماء والمحدثين لفترة طويلة من الزمن.
