يطرح هذا الكتاب بشكل رئيس القضايا لم يبرأ منها مذهب من المذاهب الإسلامية، حيث يرى في أطروحة جامعة أن البلاغة علم من علوم الشخص وعلامة دالة من علامات وجوده، وأن الأسطورة في متخيلها هي كذلك، ولذا، فهي لا تقل عن البلاغة إلى الشخص إنتساباً، وما دام الحال كذلك، فإنه يرى أن البلاغة، بوصفها جهازاً مفاهيمياً وإجرائياً إبتدعه الشخص وسواه آلة، هي الجسر الواصل بين الشخص والأسطورة.
فالبلاغة تشخصن النص، لأن بتأويلها، تخرجه من ذات نفسه نظاماً وأداء إلى بدائله، وتجعل له تمثيلاً، ولقد كان من أهم مظاهر شخصنة النص بلاغياً، أن ألبسته لباس الشخص تحدياً وإعجازاً، والأسطورة، هي أيضاً ترى في الشخص الذي هو عماد إشتغالها تجسيداً للنص وتمثيلاً، ولما كان ذلك كذلك، فإنها إذ رأت، هي الأخرى، في الشخص بديلاً بلاغياً من النص، فإنهما ضخمته فعلاً وقدرة، وأوكلت إليه التحدي والإعجاز، وجعلت منه للنص بديلاً.
يدور هذا الكتاب إذن على البلاغة والأسطورة في الثقافة الإسلامية، ولما كان كذلك، فقد انقسم إلى قسمين: أما قسمه الأول، فمخصص للنظر في البلاغة وكيفية إستنباتها في الثقافة الباحثة والعالمة الإسلامية من جهة، وعند أولئك الذين حملوا لواءها وعملوا على إستثمارها إيديولوجيا من جهة أخرى.
أما قسمه الثاني، فهو مثل الأول: إنه مخصص للنظر في الأسطورة وكيفية إستنباتها في الثقافة الإسلامية من جهة، وعند أولئك الذين حملوا لواءها وعملوا على إستثمارها إيديولوجياً من جهة أخرى.
