في الصراع الدائم بين السياسة والأخلاق، التى حرص الفلاسفة القدماء على تأكيد التلازم بينهما حسم "الأمير" الخلاف والنزاع وذلك بالضربة القاضية للأخلاق، وكانت حجته الدامغة هى "أن الغاية تبرر الوسيلة".. هذا "الأمير" هو كتاب السياسى والفيلسوف الفلورنسى الأشهر فى عالم السياسة "ميكيافيلى" ، والذى صار جزءاً لا يتجزأ من عقول معظم السياسيين ومناهجهم التى يتبعونها فى حكم رعاياهم، بل صار متوقعاً أن نجده بجانب فراش أحدهم أو فى أحد جيوبهم كما عثر عليه مع الملك "هنرى الثالث" و "الرابع" عند قتلهما. ولأن الكتاب وصاحبه على ذات الدرجة من الأهمية والشهرة بات الحديث عن أحدهما لا يكتمل إلا بذكر الآخر، وهذا هو ما نجده بالطبع فى كتابنا هذا.. حيث يقدم المؤلفان "أحمد ناصيف" و "مجدى كامل" ترجمة وافية عن حياة "ميكافيلى" متتبعين إياه منذ صغره وحتى تنقله بين قصور الملوك والأمراء ومهامه وأعماله السياسية والفكرية، عارضين لكل الآراء التى دارت حوله سواء التى اعتبرته شيطاناً أو تلك التى جعلته ضحية! لنجد أنفسنا حالما ننتهى من سيرة الرجل وجها لوجه مع " الأمير" .. ففى نهاية الكتاب نجد النص الأصلى للكتاب حتى يتسنى لنا قراءته والحكم عليه بأنفسنا .. و سواء إتفقنا مع "ميكيافيلى" أو اختلفنا، فلا جدال في أهمية الكتاب الشهير، ولا مناص من أن صاحبه هو الأكثر جدلاً فى الفكر السياسى ومدارسه.
