يشكّل هذا الكتاب دراسة في جماليات المكان وإبداع الدلالة في شعر " زاهر الألمعي " ، أعد الدراسة الدكتور حمد فهد جنبان القحطاني ، لتكشف عن أثر المكان وجماليات توظيفه ودوره الفاعل في القصيدة ، ووظيفته في استجلاء الرؤية العامة لدى الشاعر دلالةً ونهجاً ، معتمدة - أي الدراسة - تقنيات المنهج الوصفي من الرصد والتحليل والتفسير ، من أجل اكتشاف مواطن الدلالة المكانية ، ومدى قوة الترابط بينها .
وعليه ، تم للمؤلف رصد ظاهرة المكان في التالية : " الألمعيات - من نفحات الصبا - أسمار الوطن - نزيف الشهداء - على درب الجهاد - مراثي الألمعي " ، وتوخى المؤلف الدقة في كتابه توثيقاً وشرحاً وبياناً ، ويتجلى ذلك في الكثير من شروحه ، حيث يبيّن اهتمام الألمعي بالمكان على اعتبار أنه لا يخلو أي ديوان من دواوينه من تمثل هذه الظاهرة ، ولكن تختلف النسبة من ديوان إلى آخر ، فمثلاً اعتبر المؤلف أن ديوان " نزيف الشهداء " ، و " على درب الجهاد " ، و " مراثي الألمعي " ، قلّت النسبة ، مع وجود الرمز والإختزال ، أي : طغيان الدلالة السياقية فيها . أما بقية الدواوين وهي : " الألمعيات " ، و " من نفحات الصبا " ، و " أسمار الوطن " ، فهي برأيه تمثّل ظاهرة المكان بجميع أطيافها ، وهو ما ظهر من عناوين القصائد في رسم المكان ودلالته الجمالية ومن الصورة الكلية ، بالإضافة إلى الدلالة المعرفية ، كما أن الديوانين الآخرين ( الألمعيات من نفحات الصبا ) أصبح لهما دلالة واقعية ومتخيلة .
