تمتاز كتابات الشهيد كمال جنبلاط، ما بين الأربعينات والخمسينات، بالتركيز الخاص على المسألة الديمقراطية. وظل هذا الهدف ملازماً لشتى كتاباته ونضالاته. فالسياسة عنده بناء ديمقراطية جديدة في وطن يسعد أبناؤه بالحرية الحقيقية وكتاب "الديمقراطية الجديدة" الذي يصدر بالعربية للمرة الأولى، كان قد ظهر بعضه في مقالات خاصة بمجلة "Les cahiers de L`est"، وجمع بعضها الآخر في كتيب يقع في تسعين صفحة بعنوان "Democratie Nouvelle". وهو عبارة عن ندوات ومحاضرات وتقارير وضعت ما بين 1950 و1955، والنص العربي هو ترجمة لهذا الكتيب.
وبالعودة لنظرية الديمقراطية عند كمال جنبلاط نقول بأنها جاءت متسمة بميسم التقصي الموسوعي والتعميق الفلسفي لموقع الإنسان-الشخصي، الإنسان الوعي-الحر، في عملية التبدل والتطور. وهذه النظرية تطمح في مثاليتها الواقعية، إلى التأليف الجامع بين غرب الإنسان وشرقه، بين جزئيته وكليته، أناه وغيره، فتبدوا الديمقراطية الجديدة وكأنها نار العصر الجديد، عصر التحرر الذي أضاء كمال جنبلاط أحد مشاعله الكبرى في بقعة من الأرض تدعى لبنان.
