وكتاب "الأمالي" الذي نقوم بتقليب صفحاته هو واحد من أهم مؤلفات الطوسي، وهذا الكتاب الذي أدرج فيه الأحاديث المسموعة من املاء الشيخ عن ظهر قلبه أو عن كتابه، والغالب عليه ترتيبه على مجالس السمّاع، ولذا يطلق عليه (المجالس) أو (عرض المجالس) أيضاً، وهو نظير (الأصل) في قوة الاعتبار، وقلة تطرق احتمال السهو والغلط والنسيان.
