نصت المادة 17 من قانون تنظيم القضاء الشرعي على الدعاوى والمعاملات الشرعية الداخلة في إختصاص المحاكم الشرعية، كالزواج والطلاق والفرقة، والمهر والجهاز، والنفقة والحضانة وضم الفتيان والفتيات إلى أوليائهم، والولاية والوصاية، والبلوغ وإثبات الرشد، والحجر، والمفقود، والوصية، وتنظيم وتسجيل صك الوصية، وتنظيم الوكالة في الدعاوى والأمور الداخلة في إختصاص المحاكم الشرعية.
ويتضمن هذا الكتاب مجموعة متنوعة من القرارات والأحكام الصادرة عن المحاكم الشرعية السنية في الدعاوى والمعاملات الشرعية، بالإضافة إلى جملة مختارة من قرارات رئيس دائرة التنفيذ في المعاملات التنفيذية للقرارات والأحكام الشرعية، مثل قرار إبلاغ الإنذار التنفيذي، وقرارات إنفاذ الحكم الشرعي، وحبس المنفذ عليه، والقرارات الصادرة في المشكلة التنفيذية والإعتراض على تنفيذ الأحكام الشرعية، وقرارات الحجز الإحتياطي وترقيته، والحجز الإحتياطي لدى ثالث، والحجز التنفيذي، وتدوين الرجوع عن المعاملة التنفيذية.
وكذلك العديد من القرارات الصادرة عن الهيئة العامة لمحكمة التمييز في دعاوى الإعتراض على القرارات المبرمة الصادرة عن المحاكم الشرعية لعدم إختصاص هذه المحاكم أو لمخالفتها صيغاً جوهرية تتعلق بالنظام العام بمفهوم الفقرة الرابعة من المادة 95 من قانون أصول المحاكمات المدنية.
