هذا الكتاب بيبلوغرافيا متخصصة بالتاريخ الإسلامي تجمع ما طُبع من مخطوطات مصادر التأريخ الإسلامي وهي المؤلفة بين (القرنين الثاني والثاني عشر الهجريين) أعدّ هذه البيبلوغرافيا الدكتور حسام الدين علي غالب النقشبندي ويضعها بيد القارئ والدارس والباحث المتخصص في التاريخ الإسلامي بهدف التعرف على المصادر (المراجع) البحثية وأماكن وسنوات طبعها، كما ضمنها نبذاً عن بعض المؤلفين. وسيجد القارئ أن الكاتب قام بتعريف المؤلف ومحتوى مؤلفه المشهور، ممّن له أكثر مؤلف مطبوع، مع التركيز على ذكر ما طبع للمخطوط، طبعة واحدة أو أكثر.
أما عن المعلومات التي يحتويها هذا الكتاب فهي معلومات تدخل ضمن التاريخ الإسلامي بصورة عامة، وقد بلغ عددها في هذا الكتاب أكثر من ألف مؤلّف مطبوع، واعتمد الكاتب في تصنيفها على اسم الشهرة للمؤلف وحسب تسلسل حروف الهجاء، أما إذا كان المؤلف يحمل اسم الكنية (ابن أو أبو)، فقد تمّ وروده هنا حسب الاسم الذي يرد بعدهما.
