اهتم كثير من الباحثين بدراسة الشيخ رفاعة اهتماماً عظيماً في المجالات السياسية والإجتماعية والتربوية وكانت شهرته في ذلك تتلاءم مع جهوده التي حرص الباحثون على دراستها، وتبوأ- من خلال ما قدم- مكانة سامية فعد مؤسساً لنهضة مجتمعنا الحديث، وكانت شهرة رفاعة في هذه المجالات سبباً في عدم إعطاء الباحثين لجهود الشيخ في النحو واللغة ما تستحق من دراسة تبرز ما قدمه وتكشف عما أضافه، وفي هذه الدراسة استعان الباحث بمناهج علم اللغة المختلفة من أجل الوصول إلى نتائجه فيما يمكن أن نصطلح عليه "بالمنهج التكاملي" فتتبع الباحث جهود رفاعة المتنوعة ووفقاً لهذا اختلفت فصول البحث طولاً وقصراً ومن هذا المنطلق تمخض البحث عن مقدمة وتمهيد وأربعة فصول أعقبت بالخاتمة التي أجملت أهم النتائج وقدمت بعض المقترحات كالتالي: (التمهيد: تناول التخلف الحضاري في العصر العثماني وما كان له من أثر على اللغة العربية، الفصل الأول: المقومات الفكرية لشخصية الطهطاوي ويدور حول تمهيد وثلاثة محاور "المحور الأول: تناول الحياة اللغوية في عصر رفاعة وعوامل الإزدهار، المحور الثاني: يعالج النشأة العلمية لرفاعة ودراسته في الأزهر الشريف وفرنسا وعلاقته بأساتذته، المحور الثالث: يعالج آثار رفاعة العلمية سواء ما قام الشيخ بتأليفه أو بنظمه أو بترجمته في فرنسا أو في مصر أو في منفاه بالسودان"، الفصل الثاني: الدرس الصرفي والنحوي عند الطهطاوي وفيه جهوده الصرفية وجهوده النحوية، والفصل الثالث: الدرس اللغوي عند رفاعة وفيه محورين هما الدراسات التقليدية والدراسات اللغوية الحديثة، والفصل الرابع: المشكلات اللغوية في دراسات الطهطاوي يدور حول تمهيد ومحورين هما مشكلة الألفاظ المستحدثة ومشكلة الدارجة والفصحى)، والله أسأله التوفيق في إبراز جهود الشيخ رفاعة النحوية واللغوية.
