إثبات أن القصة كالشعر من حيث كونها تسير على بحور محددة كان حلمي الأكبر الذي أسعى إلى إثباته، وقد كان هذا الشعور يراودني كإيمان غير مبني على معطيات كافية، و ها قد جاء الوقت ليصبح هذا الحلم حقيقة. ويوضح المؤلف في هذا الكتاب الذي يضم بين دفتيه نظرية جديدة حول القصة نجد منهجية متكاملة، هدفها إثبات أن القصة تسير وفق هيكليات محددة عددها ثلاث عشرة هيكلية. ويقول الكاتب : عندما بدأت العمل في هذه النظرية، أحضرت عدداً كبيراً من قصص الأطفال و بدأت تحليلها وفق استبيان أسميته (استبيان الخلاصة الهيكلية)، في البداية وضعت مفردات الاستبيان على أساس أن كل قصة تتكون من مشكلة و حل و لكنني و خلال التحليل وجدت أن هناك عناصر أخرى أكثر قرباً من الواقع، و تعطي إجابات أكثر دقة من الناحية العملية، إلى أن وصل الاستبيان على ما وصل عليه في هذا الكتاب.
