بعد التسمية والحمد كتب المؤلف السيد صدر الدين الكنغراوي الإستانبولي في أول رسالته ما نصه: "هذا كتابُ (نحو) وضعته على مذهب الأئمة الكوفيين ومصطلحاتهم؛ إذ وجدتها أهملت, وهي تحتاج إلى النظر والتبصر من أهل التأويل, والفقهاء, والعلماء. ويبنى عليها وجوه من القراآت والروايات المتحملة عن الفصحاء والبلغاء. فجمعتها في غضون كتاب من كتب كثيرة اطلعت عليها ورتبتها على ترتيب كتب المتأخرين, وسميته: الموفي في النحو الكوفي".
