وتقوم هذه الدراسة على تحليل مقارن متعمق للأديان فى تقاطعها مع الميتافيزيقا بحثا عن فلسفة عقلية للدين ، على أساس موضوعى غير منحاز، لاكتشاف الدين الخالص وسط ركام التحولات التاريخية والأوهام الخرافية بعيداً عن توظيفات الكهنة المشبوهة للدين ونقداً للتفسير الشعبى القاصر لعقائدة وشرائعه وتفنيداً للهجوم الشكى على منابعه! ويسعى المؤلف إلى تحقيق هذا الغرض من خلال دراسة نقدية لأكبر محاولتين فى تاريخ الفكر الغربى لفحص الدين عقرنياً الأولى هى العقلانية النقدية التى تبناها " كنت " والثانية هى العقلانية المنحازة التى وقع فيها " هيجل " وذلك بهدف إعادة التفكير العقلانى الحر فى الدين والفلسفة والعقل والنقل ومعرفة موفق الأديان العلمية من الأولهية، الوحى والنبوة ، المعجزات ، ماهية العبادات ووظيفتها ، مشكلة الشر، الحياة الآخرة ، ومنطق تطور الأديان
