Book Description
Né l’anée de l’indépendence du Liban, en 1943, à Khyam, un village du Liban Sud, le Docteur Kamel Mohanna a etudié à l’époque de l’analphabétisme, defiant la pauvreté pour devenir médecin. Il s’est forgé un rôle libanais en s’engageant dans le movement étudiant qui, dans les années soixante, a soulevé la France. Puis, dans les années soixante-dix, suivant la route tracée par Che Gevara, il rejoignit les révolutionnaires dans les montagnes du Dhofar. C’est là-bas qu’il participa à la marche des “médecins aux pieds nus” sur les pas de Mao Tsé-toung. Il résista ainsi aux sirènes de Paris, du Canada et des quartiers chics de Beyrouth. Il leur préféra, à son retour au Liban, la misère des camps de réfugiés palestiniens où il vécut auprès des pauvres et des malades don’t il fit sa cause. En pleine guerre civile, dans les années soixante-dix et quatre-vingt, il sillonna le Liban, n’hésitant pas à aller à l’encontre de tous les préceptes politiques communément admis. En 1979, il créa l’association Amel, pacifiste en temps de guerre, ouverte à tous en temps de partition, prêchant la vie à l’ombre du suicide collectif. Jusqu’à aujourd’hui et à travers cette organization non confessionnelle, il œuvre afin de developer l’humanité de l’être humain, sans tenir compte de ses appurtenances religieuses, politiques et géographiques, vers un monde plus juste et plus digne.
