الجوهر الحقيقي في سرديات الكاتبة النمسوية إلفريدة يلينك يكمن في قدرتها على ترجمة فتنتها بخطابها، ونقض السائد والنمطي، في النظرة إلى العلاقة الأزلية بين المرأة والرجل، وتهيئة مجال رحب لممارسة التأويل الذاتي (الغرائزي)، والمختلف في سمات تجليه.
هذا ما تقرأه في رواية "شبق" التي حرصت مؤلفتها أن تخترع بورنوغرافيا أنثوية بغية قلب معادلة الشهوة النمطية والتصدي لمازوشية المرأة الجنسية الناجمة عن الهيمنة الذكورية، وتفعل ذلك من خلال تسليط الضوء على حياة زوج وزوجة في الريف النمساوي، وبصور مثقلة بالإيحاء الرمزي لأسطورة آدم / حواء وعلى قاعدة التجاب الجنسي الملتبس، وإستثمار الصور لإبراز التفاعل بينهما عبر مستويات الكلام الحواري المفعم بالخصوصية والغواية، فبرأي الكاتبة: "الرجل هو من يصنع البورنوغرافيا، أما المرأة فهي على الأكثر الهدف الصامت للنظرة الذكورية... الرجال يحاولون جاهدين إنقاذ أسطورة المرأة كما اخترعوها، أنا لن أساهم في ذلك... الأدب البورنوغرافي اخترعته وكتبتهُ المخيلات الذكورية، وهو للمرأة توق مستحيل".
الكاتبة تحاول هنا أن تبرز نموذج المرأة الراغبة بدل أن تكون محض مرغوب فيها، وهو ما تسميه الكاتبة "إيجابية الرغبة" ضمن هذه المعادلة يستمر السرد الذي جعلته يلينك عالماً مطواعاً لأسرارها، تطارحه أفكارها المحذورة حول العلاقة بين الرجل والمرأة.
من أجواء الرواية نقرأ: "تعرف الزوجة نقطة الضغط على قدم زوجها في حذائه، الذي سيتخطى به سورها الآن، فهو أحياناً لا يستطيع أن يمسك نفسه حتى المساء، فيطلبها للحضور إلى مكتبة في المصنع، حيث لا يتمكن طيره الجارح من ضبط نفسه ويطالب بغضب بالجلوس في عشه الخاص به...".
