وقد جاء هذا البحث معالجاً ومنتقداً الإشكاليات التي طرأت على مفهوم "فهم سلف الأمة"، بأسلوب علمي، وبموضوعية حاولت الحفاظ على مصدرية الكتاب والسُّنَّة نقيةً صافية، مع الحفاظ على مكانة إجتهاد السَّلف الصالح مرجعاً منهجيّاً لفهم الكتاب والسُّنَّة في كليات منهجهم وإجماعات أقوالهم، دون آحاد إجتهاداتهم الظنية.
