ما هذا الكتاب إلا محاولة لبناء لبنة جديدة تضاف إلى ما قدَمه الآخرون، بكلّ ما تضمنه من معارف وخبرات صقلتها التجربة والممارسة، مستندة إلى نتائج البحوث النفسية والتربويَة في ميادين التدريس والتعليم، لتقديم العون للإخوة المعلمين والدراسين والباحثين.
وقد وقَع الكتاب في ثلاثة عشر فصلاً، جاء الفصل الأول مقدمة عامة عن اللغة. أما الفصل الثاني فقد تناول موضوع قراءة مفهومها وأنواعها وأهداف تدريس كلَ نوع ومجالات التدريب عليها. والفصل الثالث ناقش مفهوم الإستماع ومكونات عملية الإستماع. وأبرز الفصل الرابع مفهوم القواعد النحوية والنحو الوظيفي وأهداف تدريس القواعد النحوية. وتناول الفصل الخامس الإملاء مفهومه، ومشكلات الكتابة العربية. وقد تطرَق الفصل السادس إلى مفهوم البلاغة وعلاقتها بالنصوص الأدبية. وخصّص الفصل السابع لمعالجة تدريس الشعر. وقد عرَف الفصل السابع لمعالجة تدريس الشعر. وقد عرَف الفصل الثامن بالمسرحية مفهومها وعناصرها وأنواعها. وبحث الفصل التاسع في فن الخطابة المفهوم والأركان. وقد جاء الفصل العاشر ليعالج التعبير ماهيته، وأهداف تدريسه.
