الرضا بالقدر ركن ركين في بنيان العقيدة الإسلامية, وهو أساس الطمأنينة والسعادة, ولا يصح الإيمان إلا به؛ حتى يعلم المرء أن ما أصابه لم يكن ليخطئه وما أخطأه لم يكن ليصيبه, فتقر نفسه ويهدأ روعه وتستمر حياته برضا مطلق عن حكم الله ومراده, ويجني الخير كل الخير في رضاه بالمكتوب وما يخبئه له القدر, ومن نعم الله علينا أن كشف لنا جزءًا من الحقيقة وأخفى عنا الباقي, فلسنا ندري ونحن نولي وجوهنا شطر الحياة، أي ابتلاء نبتلى به، أنبتلى بالخير أم بالشر؟ وكلاهما فتنة، وعسى أن نحب شيئًا وهو شر لنا وعسى أن نكره شيئًا وهو خير لنا, لكننا نثق في لطف الله وحسن تقديره, وأنه سبحانه يختار الصالح- وإن لم يبد لنا ذلك في أوانه- فهو اللطيف لما يشاء وهو العليم الحكيم.
ونعرض في هذا الكتاب- عزيزي القارئ- لرجال ساروا بهمم عالية تأبى الخنوع أو السخط على القدر, وقد رضوا بحكم الله وقضائه فاستراحوا, وصدقوا مع الله فصدقهم أعمالهم ويسَّر لهم أمورهم, وجعلهم قدوة لنا نهتدي بهديهم ونسير على خطاهم.
