إن موضوعات القرآن الكريم كثيرة واسعة ، وقد تناولها المختصون بالبحث والتنقيب ، ولكن البعض منها يحتاج إلى تفصيل وشرح وتجميع لشتات البحث ولا سيما آية البسملة في القرآن الكريم ، محور هذا الكتاب ، فالبسملة يتجلى فيها عنوان كتاب الله وهي عنوان كل العلوم بل ( إن البسملة حجر أساس في القرآن كله ، وهي ذات أبعاد وأعماق تُقاس عليها رابطة عضوية لا انفصام لها بينها وبين سائر سور القرآن ) .
في ضوء هذا المعنى تتجلى أهمية البحث في هذه الآية المباركة من خلال البحث في المعاني التي تُستقى منها ، وما تحمل في طيات حروفها . وهذا البحث هو ما قام به الدكتور وفقان خضير محسن الكعبي في كتاب " آية البسملة في القرآن الكريم " قدم له بمقدمة تشير إلى أهمية الدراسات المرتبطة باللغة ، والفصاحة والبلاغة والإعجاز والمعاني الشرعية التي تنطوي عليها في تفسير آي الذكر الحكيم ، موزعاً كتابه إلى ستة فصول ، تناول فيها : ألفاظ البسملة والقضايا النحوية واللغوية . ثم البسملة وعلوم البلاغة ( أسلوب المجاز ، علم البيان ، علم المعاني ، علم البديع ) ، كما تناول البسملة والأفكار الصوفية والفلسفية والمنهج الصوفي والباطني في البسملة ، كما في باقي الكتب المقدسة ، وأنبياؤها ، النبي سليمان عليه السلام والبسملة " و " النبي عيسى عليه السلام والبسملة " وكذلك البسملة في القرآن الكريم ، والبسملة ووظائفها الشرعية ، أي الأحكام الشرعية المتعلقة بالبسملة واستحباب تلاوتها ... وغير ذلك من مقاصد الكتاب .
