هذا الكتاب المتواضع هو- من مشروع الجمع الصوتى الأول للقرآن أو المصحف المرتل- بمثابة الدليل الموضح, أو الملحق الشارح.
وسيرى القارئ أنى أخذت نفسى بالموضوعية إلى أبعد مدى استطعته, وأنى- فى مناقشتى لكثير من الآراء- لم أنفعل قط, ولم أتعصب, كما سيرى أنى- على ماتعوده منى فى كل إنتاجى المتواضع- أعزو كل شئ أوردته للاستشهاد أو للاعتضاد إلى صاحبة فى أمانة وتحرز بالغين.
وسيرى أن مراجعى لم تقف عند كتب العلوم القرآنية, وإنما تعدتها إلى المتفرقات المبعثرة والشوارد البعيدة فى كتب التاريخ والفقه والأصول واللغة والأدب والشعر وغيرها. هذا, وفى كل رأى أحببت أن يشاركنى فيه القارئ, عرضت عليه- بادئ ذى بدء- من المعارف الموثقة ما أظنه يرضى حاجاته ويشفى غلته, ولم أدعه يلم بهذه المعارف إلمامة المتعجل الخاطف, بل لعلى مكنته من أن يقف وقفة المطمئن المستأنى. وأظنى-فى ثانيا كتابتى- جلوت فى الموضوعات القرآنية كثيرا مما يخفى مثله على الكثيرين, وسهلت مايصعب مثله على غير المتخصصين.
والكتاب من قسمين, يسبقهما التمهيد الذى أشرت إليه آنفا, وتليهما الخاتمة. فأما القسم الأول فهو تاريخ مفصل للمرات الثلاث لجمع القرآن: جمع أبى بكر, وجمع عثمان, ثم هذا الجمع الصوتى الأول. وأظن هذا القسم قد استنبط-فى توفيق- منهاجى الجمعين المكتوبين, وأبطل دعاوى الطاعنين عليهما, بما لاحاجة بعده- غالبا- إلى مزيد.
وأما القسم الثانى وهو الخاص بالأغراض التى يقصدها مشروع الجمع الصوتى الأول للقرآن فهو فى أبواب ثلاثة: (أولها) عن حفظ القرآن فى ذاته, و(ثانيها) عن الغاية التعليمية للمشروع, و(ثالثها) عن مهمته الدفاعية.
