"عليك، في كل ما تقوم به من أعمال يومية حتى أكثرها بساطة، أن تتعلم كيف تفعّل قوى وعناصر تسمح لك أن ترتقي بهذه الأعمال إلى المستوى الروحي وأن تبلغ بذلك أرقى درجات الحياة. فلنتأمل في نهار عادي: عند الاستيقاظ من النوم، تتوالى سلسلة أحداث وأفكار ومشاعر وحركات: بدأاً من النهوض من الفراش، إلى إشعال الضوء وفتح النوافذ والاغتسال وتحضير الفطور والذهاب إلى العمل ومقابلة الناس الخ..فكم من أمور نقوم بها، وجميعنا مضطرون إلى ذلك. لكن الفرق يكمن في أن البعض يقومون بهذه الأمور بطريقة آلية ميكانيكية في حين أن البعض الآخر، ممن يملكون فلسفة روحية، يسعون على العكس، إلى إدخال حياة أكثر كثافة وأكثر نقاء في كل تلك الأعمال، عندئذٌ يتبدل كل شيء ويأخذ معنى جديداً. هؤلاء هم دوماً ملتهمون".
تلك هي فلسفة أومرآم ميخائيل أيفانهوف، وهي دعوة للتحقق أكثر من الجانب الروحاني في النفس الإنسانية الذي يعطي الحياة معنى أعمق ويمنح الإنسان راحة وطمئناناً ذلك ينعكس على سيرة الحياة الإنسانية بشكل عام ويخرجها عن دائرة الآثام والشرور والمآسي. والكاتب هو فيلسوف ومربي فرنسي من اصل بلغاري (1900-1986)، جاء إلى فرنسا عام 1937 وأعطى خلاصة تعاليمه. الملفت في جميع أعماله هو تعدد الوجوه التي يعرض بها مسألة تقدم الإنسان وإمكانياته. وكل المواضيع تعالج وضع الإنسان وإمكانياته في تفهم نفسه وقدرته على استخدام حياته بطريقة أفضل.
