حين تكون المرأة/الكاتبة هي الذات والموضوع-الكاتب والمكتوب، لا بد أن يكون النتاج الأدبي المترتب على مثل تلك العلاقة على قدر كبير من الصدق وجمالية التعبير، وهكذا كانت كوليت خوري في قصصها التسع "الكلمة الأنثى" ومن خلال راويها المصطنع الذي تتخفى خلفه، فتثبت من خلاله أفكارها ورؤاها، ثم لا تكاد تفترق عنه للتمويه والإيحاء باستقلالية الرواية عن صاحبتها، وهو من الأمور المشروعة في الفن الروائي.
الحكايات التي تقولها المجموعة تتداعى وتتناسل وتبدو تنويعات على حكاية واحدة. هي حكاية المرأة، ولكنها ليست أية امرأة هي امرأة مثقفة تكاد تكون حياة الكاتبة هي جزء منها ففي "الكلمة الأنثى" كان على البطلة أن تختار بين (المحب أو الحب)، (الرجل والكلمة) لقد أدركت حين رأته أنها "أنثى" عثرت على الحب وهي في قمة نجاحها مكومة في زاويتها تكتب "طول سنوات، والشباب يهرب من أناملي حروفاً على الأوراق، وعاطفتي تُذبح على هكيل الكلمة". وعندما خُيرت بين أن تكون عاشقة أو كاتبة، اختارت أوراقها "أوراق طالما شكوت إليها وحدتي فلملمت دموعي. أوراق بيض طالما لجأت إليها في الأيام الحالكة فرحت نفسي، وآنست وحشتي وبدّدت أحزاني. أوراق وأوراق تمدّ لي أذرعها لترشف بكائي من جديد، ولتعمر من حرماني مجداً"، فهل أرادات الكاتب أن تقول لقارئها "أن الحرمان هو ثمن النجاح؟" أم القول أن الحب الذي تفيض به قلوبنا هو أكبر نجاح نحصده في حياتنا؟...
وعلى هذا المنوال تأتي قصص المجموعة التي تتقاطع في كثير من موضوعاتها مع حياة الكاتبة، حيث تروي في القصيدة الأولى حبها لجدّها "فارس الخوري" ومرضه الذي أفقدها إياه، وأما القصة الثانية "هذا المجتمع" فهو ملامح من المجتمع العربي والأقنعة المزيفة التي يضعها الناس وراء الأقنعة ما دامت هويتهم واضحة في عيني متفرج؟".
