انعكس هذا التأثير بالدور السعودي المهم في الحياة السياسية في اليمن من خلال دعم أطراف وفرقاء سياسيين ضد خصومهم. بقي اليمن يرزح تحت وطأة القبلية بينما تمكنت السعودية من بناء دولة مركزية قوية مما انعكس بقدرة السعودية على انتاج سياسة خارجية فاعلة من جهة، وفتح الساحة اليمنية للتدخلات الخارجية من خلال بوابة النزاعات القبلية والطائفية والمحلية..
