في البداية لابد أن أتقدم بالشكر الجزيل إلى كل من حكومة الجمهورية اليمنية وحكومة المملكة العربية السعودية ، لما توصلتا إليه أخيرا من عقد معاهدة جدة الخاصة بالحدود السياسية بين البلدين في 12 / 6 / 2002م ، الموافق 10/3/1421هـ . ولا شك أن هذه المعاهدة قد أغلقت ملفا من التوترات والاحتكاكات التي استمرت عدة عقود من الزمن ، كلفت البلدين حشد الجيوش وما يتبع ذلك من تكاليف باهظة فضلا في البداية لابد أن أتقدم بالشكر الجزيل إلى كل من حكومة الجمهورية اليمنية وحكومة المملكة العربية السعودية ، لما توصلتا إليه أخيرا من عقد معاهدة جدة الخاصة بالحدود السياسية بين البلدين في 12 / 6 / 2002م ، الموافق 10/3/1421هـ . ولا شك أن هذه المعاهدة قد أغلقت ملفا من التوترات والاحتكاكات التي استمرت عدة عقود من الزمن ، كلفت البلدين حشد الجيوش وما يتبع ذلك من تكاليف باهظة فضلا عن إسالة دماء الأخوة الأشقاء من الجانبين بين حين وآخر . وصرفت البلدين عن الانتباه إلى المشاكل الأخرى الداخلية والخارجية ، مثل البناء والتنمية ، وخاصة في وقت تعقدت فيه المشاكل الاقتصادية ، وتوجه العالم إلى التكتلات الإقليمية والعولمة مما يُعد تحديا جديدا أمام العالم العربي .
