يزخر القرآن الكريم بالأمثال الحكيمة التي تنبثق عن صميم بيانه السامي فتصقل الأذهان، وتجلو صدأ القلوب، وتستحوذ على النفوس بما تلقيه في مكامنها من روائع الآداب وذخائر الحكم.
وقد جاءت أمثال القرآن على سياج رصين من التقسيم البديع والتنسيق الفريد، والترابط المحكم، وانتظمت بجملتها الزاخرة في سلك البيان القرآني من غير قصور في ألفاظها أو خلل في تعبيراتها، وإنما انسجمت فيما بينها وتآلفت وتعاضدت رغم تعدد ضروبها وتباين صورها، فهي تقوم على تحقيق أغراض سامية وتتوحد في اتجاهاتها ومقاصدها لتبث المعاني وتظهر الحقائق من خلال الصور التمثيلية، فقد ثبت أن تصوير المعاني بطريق التمثيل أكثر عوناً على فهم المعقول وترسيخه في الأذهان من مجرد إطلاقه، ومن ثم فالأمثال القرآنية تقرب المراد إلى العقول وتقرر المعاني في النفوس، وترفع الغشاوة عن الحقائق.
وقد كان المقصد الأسمى لهذا البحث استجلاء الخصائص اللغوية والبيانية التي تتميز بها أمثال القرآن الكريم، واستخلاص المعاني الزاخرة، والتعرف على الأصول الاشتقاقية للألفاظ المنوه عنها في هذه الأمثال والتنويه على المزايا العالية للنظم القرآني من خلال البيان التمثيلي، مع إبراز ما يتضمنه من توجيهات إعرابية وقراءات قرآنية.
وقد تضمن البحث وفرة غزيرة من المصادر الأصيلة للأئمة اللغويين والنحاه القدامى وعلى رأسهم سيبويه والفراء والزجاج وأبو عبيده وابن الأنبارى والسيوطي وغيرهم، كما تضمن جملة من المصادر الرئيسية في علوم القرآن وتفسيره، مثل تفسير الزمخشري والطبري والقرطبي والشوكاني وفخر الدين الرازي وغيرهم ممن أفاض الله عليهم بغزير العلوم والمعارف.
ويتضمن هذا البحث ثلاثة أبواب على النحو التالي: الباب الأول في خصائص الأسلوب في المثل العربي القديم، الباب الثاني عبقرية الأمثال القرآنية والباب الثالث أسلوب الأمثال القصصية في القرآن.
